OK, having read many comments on COVID-19 and vaccines, I though to add my 2 cents.
From the start of the world, leaders like to stay in control, in a position of power. Whether a king, Pharaoh or president, they will do what it takes to remain in power, to continue the status quo or at times, even increase their reach. In the past and possibly still do, they use spies. People who are paid to report on what they hear and see among the people. The leader can then act on that information. The first technology was there to facilitate communication among people like the phone. But phone conversations could be tapped. There were small microphones and tape recorders. Next the digital age started. Nice gadgets and tools for the people but great tools for leaders to further "listen" and "see" and "read" about what people were doing. What would be the next step?
Well, since the COVID-19 events and related push for vaccines, I have started to watch certain movies and series with different interest. Just yesterday I watched the new James Bond movie (No time to die). The movie was recorded before Covid-19. The theme of the story is a new way of infecting people which made them vulnerable (die) when infected with a DNA based poison. For those who have not seen the movie, I will not tell everything
This method was developed by the government but now got in the hands of the bad guy.
Similar things happened in one or 2 episodes of Person of Interest. The whole series was about the power of Artificial Intelligence and how it can be used to control people.
The thing in these movies / series that governments or leaders were missing at first was a method to inject or individually infect people in order to control them (positively or negatively). In other words, the invention was there to mass control people (like a satellite that is used to oversee an area, not to track individual behavior). Therefore, the next step was to control individual behaviors and influence them. That would give a leader full control and would provide the means to stay in power.
One can say that these are just movies / series, fiction, fantasy. Correct but would these (scenario) writers really have such different thoughts or ideas than those of our leaders?
Coming back to my question: What would be the next step?. Well, as the purpose of leaders have not changed throughout the ages, I believe that they are still progressing their efforts to get more control over the people they govern / lead. And if it would be possible to be able to know 24/7 what each individual is doing, saying, talking about, reading, viewing/watching, meeting with etc, I am convinced that our leaders will go for that. Will it be via vaccines? Via mass testing? Other means? I do not know, but the technology is already there to use and if something is available, one can be sure it will be used. In crime investigations, detectives always try to establish motive and opportunity. All leaders in this world have the same motives (remain in power). They only need (to create the) opportunity as the means / tools are already available.
And as individuals, there isn't much that can be done against this.... so, enjoy the weather, enjoy life as much as possible, love and be loved, try to stay healthy and be of no interest to leaders
