Re: Interesting Stuff
Hello Bobcat:
Been very busy lately and I'm afraid I just now found your reply to my question on the Loyd Evans debacle. Just wanted to thank you for the additional info. Loyd and I obviously have a very different approach to things and I never followed any of his channels, but I did have an idea of who he was. I found this interesting nonetheless even if the current situation is rather tragic. I genuinely feel bad for him right now and wish him only the best. All of us are sinners and make even very bad mistakes at times. What I do appreciate here is that he seems to be honest about the situation and also seems to be accepting responsibility for it at least largely if not completely.
Agape love;
Sol

Re: Interesting Stuff - Sweden Removing WT Funding.
The YouTube video below is reporting that Sweden is removing funding for WT over what it feels like are fundamental teachings that Sweden feels are contrary to the goals of society. This follows news that Norway also did the same, although the video says that the specific reasons were a little different in Norway.
I believe a number of European countries provide tax funds to different religions just as a matter of course. It may be long standing policy that goes back into the development of Christianity in Europe. (If someone knows more accurately, please correct me.)
At any rate, WT has benefited from this, although, I don't know how aware R&F JWs are of this in Europe. Some might have a hard time reconciling this with the WT's constantly condemning the world (much like with the UN/NGO fiasco). I've only heard of government funding of religion in Europe thru US soldiers who have spoken of it. When I was in the military many years ago I was never assigned to a European tour of duty, so I never saw this myself.
In the USA, with its' 'separation of church and state,' the whole idea of government providing funding for religion seems a bit strange. But that's us Yanks. We're a strange bunch.
To me, much of this has been brought on the WT by itself, as a result of their being so two-faced about what they teach. They ban blood (and change the details at will), but try to present the idea to the public that this is something individual JWs have chosen and are free not to choose if they wish. It's the same with shunning. So the world is slowly catching on to their hypocrisy and WT is now starting to reap what they've sown.
At any rate, below is the video (approx. 7+ minutes):

And so war pollutes Europe's soil once more.

For any interested, an extensive listing of cognitive biases: Here.
The topic gets mentioned here and there. So it seemed like a good thing to have cataloged.
