CO Visits
Next week is a special week
No one talk, no don't speak
The weeks activities read aloud
To work with him you should be proud
Meeting is Tuesday night
Yes you heard that right
Field service is the next day
So no work and no pay
Thursday ministry arrangements too
And Friday all day just for you
Saturday of course don't forget
But it's raining, don't get wet!
Don't forget lunch at sister's homes
And afternoon tea and scones
Wednesday evening Pioneer meeting
Friday night Elders and Servants beating
Why all this fuss he's just a man
Hearing of countries under ban
Pioneers, placements, and all those hours
Feels like a meeting at Trump's Towers
The week is over, our love we send
To the next congregation, it's a trend
All that fuss for the last six days
But unfortunately it's not just a phase.
In six months time it's a repeat
We're told a 'privilege' and a treat
Is it really? is that right? Is it so?
You know the answer, a big fat "NO"!

Re: CO Visits
And add to this the CO propaganda video about a week or two before he arrives. Gotta make sure everyone has the proper view of the CO before he arrives.

Re: CO Visits
Hi Amitaf,
Very well done.
It reminded me about one of the last CO visits while I was still active. Living in a semi isolated rural territory, you don't leave the sealed roads during rainy weather. There's 2 reasons for this, 1. you get bogged! 2. you won't be welcome back at that place for future calls as it tears up their roads & makes it difficult for them to get out, in case of any emergency.
Well, guess what? at this visit it was during one of these very wet times & the CO would not listen to the local brothers at all. We refused to even meet for field service. He being the very prideful person that he was, went out by himself on the territory.....& yes, he got hopelessly bogged. Needless to say, the field service was cancelled that visit. BTW, he didn't want to admit that he made a mistake by not listening to the locals. Neither did he apologize for how he spoke to the brothers about it.
Regards, Amos.

Re: CO Visits
Rather than a "tax inspector," I've come to view the CO as the WT equivalent to the Soviet era zampolit.

Re: CO Visits
Ok what rhymes with 'zampolit'?
If any current COs read this I expect they'll feel thrilled to know they have motivated people to write poetry.
Um... well maybe not.

Re: CO Visits
Tis another visit of the zampolit,
Watch your step, lest he throw a fit.
Bobcat the poet, who doesn't know it.

The CO's Wife
Oh what joy it’s the CO’s visit
I’m looking forward to every minute

Please may I work with the CO’s wife?
She’s always happy and always delights
In my jolly company and my happy face.
She expresses appreciation
Cause I give her space
I allow her to think and she’s free to grimace
And burst in to tears and tells me it’s true
She gets fed up with him, as you do too.

Re: CO Visits
There is an example of a zampolit in the movie The Hunt for Red October. He is the political officer that Sean Connery's character does away with shortly after they set sail. Connery's character feels the need to do this because the man is devoted to the Soviet state and it's dogma, and, although lower ranking than Connery (the boat's captain), he only answers to the Soviet state. I think Sam Nead uses the word (in Russian) in the scene where he tells Connery that the man is waiting for him in the captain's state room where Connery finds him having gone through his personal belongings.
Maybe its just me, but I see numerous parallels with COs (in a general way).
Bobcat (with thoughts of defecting

Re: CO Visits
So when the CO goes, minus the skull caps and beards, do you elders go off book a hotel and celebrate like this? If so I think sliding across the floor on your head is exaggerating the point. The CO isn't THAT bad.
