Just imagine if you were short of trucks and decided you needed some new ones.
Just imagine you wanted to be considered eco friendly and get best value for money. So you decide to invest in a lot of electric trucks.
At 23:15 Elon talks about the economics of a truck convoy. Apparently this beats even rail.
Now stop and think you how you are going to charge up all these vehicles? Remember buses need charging too and domestic vehicles, let alone the electric bikes - and you want to boil the kettle and microwave your meals. Oh and the computers. Will the Grid cope? Are there enough batteries? Will people be able to depend on solar power?
(2 Peter 3:10) . . .Yet the Lord’s day will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a hissing noise, but the elements being intensely hot will be dissolved, and earth and the works in it will be discovered.

Re: Electrical Charging
As they say, "there's no free lunch": Here. The law on the conservation of energy cannot be changed. There are possible improvements in efficiency here and there. But the energy needed to move an electric truck or car or airplane has to come from somewhere. And the amount of energy needed to move a 10 ton truck 10 feet is the same, regardless if it is gas, or electric or nuclear powered. (This is also related to the rule of 80-20.)

Re: Electrical Charging
Hi Bobcat - as you can see convoys of truck using traditional fuel (diesel and petrol) have taken off in large numbers to protest the vaccine. That means there will be not so many trucks on the road hauling goods.
Elon Musk who does electrical vehicles has given these truckers a large donation. It appears he is backing them.
So although in the past there has been a variety of fuels, as you point out.
Also if people go onto digital currency like Bitcoin, that has to be mined using massive amounts of energy. How's that going to work out?

Every new house in UK is being fitted with a car charging point. What is that going to do to the National Grid? I imagine similar is happening in US and elsewhere. Gradually there is going to be a larger and larger draw on the Grid which can only transport so much power at a given time. And the Grid will not get replaced. Or it cannot be done quickly. However, these developments are taking place very, very quickly.Marina wrote: ↑1 year agoThe Canadian Truckers in Ottowa say they have so much money they can stay in situ for YEARS!!!!! Today electricity is becoming the most used fuel. It is perceived as green and Elon was saying it can be cheaper than rail. So if these convoys and protests continue and Elon is funding them and there is an increasing draw on the Grid, what is going to happen to the Grid? You will have domestic vehicles, buses, trucks, computers, homes (fridges and cookers) all needing electrical energy to keep going. There is a risk of blackouts. A risk of rationing.
