The problem I see in all this is that the "day for a year" idea (Num 14:34; Ezek 4:5-6; and see here) is never applied in the Bible to the prophecies that speak of "time, times and half a time" (of Dan 12:7 & Rev 12:6, 14, 13:5) or to the "seven times" (of Dan 4), or to the 2300 evenings and mornings (of Dan 8:13-14), or to the 1290 & 1335 days (of Dan 12:11-12). (It is applied to the 390 & 40 days of Ezek 4:5-6, for which see further down, and to the 40 days the Israelite spies spent spying out the Promised Land in Num 14:34.)

Thus, these particular prophecies are hybridized into many centuries-long fulfillment's by the fanciful ideas of humans. Passed off as "Biblical," since the Bible does speak of "a day for a year" in other places. But in reality, it is a concoction of humans, taking two diverse ideas and artificially welding them together.

Seen from that viewpoint, how many days go into a year (in connection with the "day for a year" idea) is, really, a moot point. The Bible never connects "a day for a year" to the prophecies mentioned above.

Incidentally, in points 6 thru 8 in this post there are links to discussions of Dan 12:7, 11-12; 8:13-14 showing how these time periods fit literally into the major points of the 66-73 CE Jewish Roman War, as well as Nero's persecution starting in 64 CE. There was no need for a "day for a year" conversion of any sort.

This post discusses the 390 & 40 days of Ezekiel 4. In that prophecy, which did involve a "day for a year," there was no need to consider how long a year was and do any mathematical converting to correct for extra solar days or intercalary months. All the years were years as presented in the Bible which ignores those things. (For example, when you read of a king ruling for 40 years, you have no need to calculate for how many of those years had intercalary months included. It was simply 40 years as people count them.)

Edited to add: In this post, towards the bottom of the post, I discuss the solution I arrived at for the "seven times" in an application towards Satan's 'granted' length of rulership. (Lu 4:5-6) There was also no need to worry about "a day for a year" or intercalary months and such. (Similarly, there was no need to worry about such things when considering the "seven times" as they applied initially to Nebuchadnezzar.)

Thanks. There is a lot of information to digest at once. It's almost overwhelming.

Greetings in Christ, Bro. Amos

I announce you, that the famine you have prophesied about long time ago (Amos 8:11) is over - for those who open the door to Jesus - Rev. 3:20

But with those who do not receive Jesus - John 13:20 - they are experiencing like this : Isaiah 65:11-14 .

Someone from a non-JW background got to understand what I had to stand up to in relation to Watchtower and 1914. They described the situation using a Chinese expression. Thought I'd share as you all might find it interesting.

There is an old Chinese idiom describing this level of group think in disregard to reality most concisely. "Point deer, make horse." Its meaning boiled down pretty much equals 1984's Winston Smith and the four/five fingers. Reasoning and objective reality are irrelevant to those who demand unconditional loyalty and obedience. And their weakest minded followers immediately turn against anyone who dares to think for oneself. So only those far and few who don't lack the wits, are of strong character and low in agreeableness will stand up to them. One may be tempted to say that a good deal of autistic traits is required for that.

Here is a review of the Bible Drama, Saturday 3:20pm, 2021 Regional Convention Program.

Now was it accurate to the Biblical account or seriously flawed?

Tadua gives you his thoughts on AwakenJW.com

I just love how it opens up

Time 00:00:37 – 00:00:54; Request for donations by Chairman of session.

They get to the drama AFTER asking for money! I guess they felt people must still be awake or paying attention and this was a good point rattle the collection tin.

Thereafter the drama starts

Time 00:01:20 – 00:02:10; Date Caption: 617 B.C.E. Event shown: Fall of Jerusalem and Jehoiachin to Nebuchadnezzar.

Tadua makes the point that there is a serious timing issue. He says:
We should ask, on what basis is this caption of 617BCE made? It states 617BCE with certainty. It does not even say circa 617 BCE.
Myself, I don't do dates. I can show you in my videos WHY the maths behind their dates contradicts the Bible but at this point I can say nothing about dates. However Tadua has done a lot of work on this, so if you are interested in dates, you will enjoy his article.

I am hoping to develop a tool to examine both the dates and the maths of the scriptures together. But it is a work-in-progress at the moment.

Hi Marina,

So in other words, the usher was wanting the admission fee before the show started. It used to be after the show, after all the manipulative language that used to flow so freely and accepted without second thought. They were relying on spooked up attendees to open up the wallet, but were afraid they wouldn't after seeing the show.

Are most of the JW's that go to these conventions, or now as it is, watch it on their Big Screen LCD donating? Or is it just mainly the ones that "know it's the truth" that fork out?

Hi Marina,
I am hoping to develop a tool to examine both the dates and the maths of the scriptures together. But it is a work-in-progress at the moment.

See the link in this post, in point # 1 in the section entitled, "6. Additional Points of Interest." The link goes to a nice chart in the appendix of the book, Gentile Times Reconsidered. The chart has some scriptural references in it.

Another handy reference tool is the NET Bible. Footnote # 1 at Dan 1:1 (here) gives some handy time references. And here is footnote # 2 for Jeremiah 25:1 which also has corresponding chronological data.

Thanks for the link to Tadua's review.
