If Paul was alive in the flesh today, the GB would have him dissfellowshipped for saying such a thing.

If Paul were alive today in flesh he wouldn't be in the JW's, He would be sending them a nasty letter.

Paul was no peddler of God's Word!!!

This excerpt is from JW.org, please read it well.

An Example Worthy of Imitation. In view of his faithfulness in copying Christ’s example, the apostle Paul could say: “Become imitators of me.” (1Co 4:16; 11:1; Php 3:17) Paul was alert to follow the leading of God’s spirit. (Ac 13:2-5; 16:9, 10) He was no peddler of God’s Word, but spoke out of sincerity. (2Co 2:17) Though educated, Paul did not try to impress others with his speech (1Co 2:1-5) nor did he seek to please men. (Ga 1:10) He did not insist on doing what he had the right to do, but adapted himself to the people to whom he preached, exercising care so as not to stumble others.—1Co 9:19-26; 2Co 6:3.

This statement by brother Huish is absolutely correct and scripturally based. And in fact it is completely scriptural in ANY setting or context, or otherwise regardless of whether the associations and interchanges of encouragement among the anointed are occurring in a setting of a broken kingdom covenant or one that is in good standing between themselves and Jehovah.

Nevertheless based on seemingly countless comments I have read on this website as well as others over the last few years, I feel compelled to point out that the setting being considered here in first Corinthians is specifically one in which the holy covenant was in good standing. The Apostle Paul had written this particular letter sometime around 55 CE. This means the kingdom or even "marriage" covenant had just been renewed and inaugurated with blood around 22 years earlier for the fifth foretold "time." In other words, the fifth foretold "birth" (Jer 15:9) of the nation that was foretold to occur during the time frame of foreign exile and captivity had already transpired, and on this occasion the covenant that established this "kingdom of the son of his love" would remain in good standing until sometime around 98-100 CE according to the Apostle John. (Col 1:13) (1 Joh 2:18)

This prophetic time frame along with its corresponding "births" or even "plantings and harvests" is also referred to in the scriptures as the "times of the nations." (Da 4:23) (Lu 21:24 22:29) (He 9:16-18) (1 Sa 2:5) (Jer 15:9) (Ge 41:22-24) We might find it noteworthy in fact that the expression found here in Luke 21:24 was specifically "TIMES of the nations" as opposed to- TIME of the nations.

But why might it be important for us to understand things such as this?

Well for one thing if we FAILED to take these things into account, we would likely find at least SOME of Paul's words here in First Corinthians as rather confusing, mysterious, or even contradictory. For example in OUR case, while there never seems to be any shortage of teachings or even interpretations of scripture among us, we obviously are not experiencing or witnessing things like speaking in tongues. Moreover while the setting here in 1 Corinthians is clearly described as a gathering together of MANY prophets, we currently find ourselves in a situation in which few if ANY of us would even dare to CLAIM such an identity. Would these two issues alone actually qualify as merely among MANY indicators that we are not currently in this same setting as found here in First Corinthians?

Yes the fact is that the setting we currently find ourselves in is one of yet another BROKEN kingdom or marriage covenant, which in turn is ALWAYS the very reason we find ourselves in dire need of yet ANOTHER "coming of the kingdom" or "nation" in the first place. This broken marriage covenant is the very reason that the anointed ones in these pre-kingdom time frames are identified with terms such as spiritual "virgins" and "widows," and in fact even ones who are desperately endeavoring to make it to the NEXT foretold "marriage feast." (Mt 25:1, 2, 10) (Isa 54:4)

As pointed out in accounts like this very same chapter of Matthew, as opposed to finding themselves in a position in which they need to feed OTHERS spiritually, these "brothers" of Jesus in these time frames find THEMSELVES in need of being fed. (Mt 25:35-40) Worse yet, as opposed to MANY prophets or divinely "APPOINTED" teachers being available in these periods to actually PERFORM this feeding, the anointed ones find themselves pondering questions like---is there even ANY SUCH THING as prophets of Jehovah any more, and if so, "who really IS this faithful and discreet slave that his master appointed over his domestics, to give them their food at the proper time"? (Mt 24:45)

These pre-kingdom time frames in which Jehovah's prophets DO arrive to perform this feeding and even "inspecting" (Lu 19:44) of the anointed ones is illustrated or even DEMONSTRATED for us with examples such as the rather brief period in which John the Baptist and Jesus were ministering to their disciples out in the spiritual "wilderness" which on this occasion was created with the spiritual adultery or "harlotry" of the Chief priests, scribes and Pharisees. (Mt 3:1, 2) As opposed to MANY prophets such as found in accounts or settings like 1 Corinthians 14:26-33, these appointed teachers or even figurative "spies" are identified as comprising only two or three people on the entire earth! (Re 11:3) (Jos 2:1) (Mt 18:16)

Would it be important for the anointed ones in this time period to take scriptural information such as this into account? Well regardless of whether it is or not, unfortunately scriptures like Matthew 22:14 or for that matter even examples such as found in the early part of the first century make it perfectly clear that ultimately "few" of the anointed in these prophetic time frames EVER actually succeed in doing so. (Ro 15:4) (Ez 33:32, 33) (Am 6:5, 6) This might prompt us to consider the following questions:

If I personally AM indeed taking information like this into account, should it perhaps be affecting a change in the way I am currently approaching things. If so, what exactly might these changes be?

Hi Sol,

I find the question you raised interesting. What is your current opinion or answer?

Thanks,

I apologize for the delay in getting back to you ctron. Glad I took the time to check my messages since I have been preoccupied with a rather in depth article on the "great tribulation" which I very much hope at least yourself and a few others will soon find rather interesting and informative.

A VERY good and important question you are posing here! As always however it is by no means a matter of anyone's opinions or mere speculations when it comes to the true answer. The answer is explicitly laid out for us in the Holy Scriptures, and PARTICULARLY in the prophetic time frames in which a complete national apostasy has resulted in yet another massive WITHDRAWAL of Jehovah's Holy Spirit from the earth to the point where even the ANOINTED ones are described as like completely "devastated" spiritual "widows" and "virgins," the only real issue here is about actually RECOGNIZING and UNDERSTANDING these answers.

You see the answer to your question has basically everything to do with our coming to recognize what in fact is an INCALCULABLY tremendous distinction between the foretold settings in which God's nation actually EXISTS on the earth as opposed to the foretold times in which the spiritual adultery involved in a BROKEN kingdom covenant and its corresponding TERMINATION of the spiritual relations with a heavenly "bridegroom" now qualifies the anointed as mere "virgins" and "widows" instead of "the Lamb's wife." (La 1:1, 4) (Mt 25, 1, 2) (Re 21:2, 9)

It is VERY challenging for the anointed to make the needed adjustments in their thinking during these periods and not MERELY due to what is generally now a much lower level of Holy Spirit among them. This difficulty also stems from the fact that among the primary objectives of the rather "disgusting thing" that this "apostasy" always "PUTS IN PLACE" of a "destroyed temple" (1 Cor 3:16, 17) (Da 11:31) (Mt 24:15, 16) is to immediately begin programming everyone RELENTLESSLY with the false notion that NOTHING HAS CHANGED! This is among the primary reasons in fact that "few" of the anointed are "chosen" in these settings or time frames to be among the appointed spiritual shepherds of the NEXT foretold expression of Jehovah's nation. (Mt 22:14) If it were actually TRUE that nothing had changed, then of course there would be no reason for another foretold "coming of the kingdom" in the first place. So what exactly then is this corresponding "change in their approach" I am referring to when it comes to the issue of the anointed ones "meeting together for Bible study" in these post-apostasy/pre-kingdom time frames that we unquestionably find ourselves in for the final foretold "time." (Da 4:23, 32) (Lu 21:24)

First of all, when true Christianity actually EXISTS on the earth, its anointed shepherds do not "need ANYONE teaching them." (1 Joh 2:27) If these genuinely appointed shepherds meet together AT ALL, it has much more to do with things like FELLOWSHIP and mutual ENCOURAGEMENT. Otherwise just as demonstrated for us with the Apostles of the first century, it is basically all about teaching the FLOCK as opposed to their fellow spiritual shepherds. On the other hand just as Jesus foretold for the future times in which even his anointed "BROTHERS" THEMSELVES would once again be in dire need of being "fed" and even "CLOTHED" in a spiritual sense, ("clothed" actually being a symbolic reference to the fact that yet another priestly sacrifice on the part of "two witnesses" for the "inaugurating" of a renewed marriage covenant just as foretold in accounts like Revelation 11), they ABSOLUTELY should be meeting together for Bible study, and even if it must be in a Bible forum found online such as this one. (Mt 24:45 25:34-40) (Re 11:3, 7, 11, 12) (He 9:16-18) However the specific APPROACH to this particular ministry or even Bible study is what needs to be seriously considered by them at this point. And what CANNOT be overstated here is JUST HOW serious this issue really is! A careful analysis and comparison of scriptural accounts like Jonah 3:6-10 and Revelation 18:7, 8 will in fact reveal they are actually DESIGNED to drive home the serious nature of this. (Isa 47:8, 9)

So in the case of the "FEW" among the anointed who manage in these settings to demonstrate any "repentance" AT ALL for the spiritual adultery (or even its communal effects) involved with these broken marriage covenants, when it comes to them humbly and repentantly "stepping down" off of their figurative "thrones" upon the realization or the "catching sight" (Mt 3:1,2 24:15, 16) of the fact that yet another foretold "apostasy" has once again actually placed them on a COUNTERFEIT throne of spiritual shepherding and donned them in a FAKE "official garment," AMONG the things they would do quite well to consider is the following question:

Is a specific or even a NEW approach to things like Bible study or for that matter the concept of a ministry ALTOGETHER in these prophetic time frames not ALREADY becoming rather clear?

You see there basically is NO DIVINELY ORDAINED MINISTRY WHATSOEVER on the earth when (as the Apostle Paul said) an "apostasy" on the part of Jehovah's appointed shepherds once again requires yet ANOTHER "presence of our Lord Jesus Christ" and its corresponding "day of Jehovah" to REESTABLISH this forfeited theocratic shepherding authority! (2 Th 2:1-8) If the anointed "brothers" of Jesus have "caught sight" of the fact that they are no longer qualified and empowered even to teach and instruct ones who are NOT "Christ's domestics," then just what exactly would move them to imagine they are in a position to begin teaching THEIR FELLOW ANOINTED BROTHERS AND SISTERS?! While prayerful Bible reading, study, research, questions and even DISCUSSIONS are ONE thing, boldly taking it upon ourselves to actually TEACH the truth of the scriptures in these time frames is an ENTIRELY different matter! At least initially this divine authority and power is "appointed" to only "TWO WITNESSES." (Mt 24:45) (Re 11:3) Just as was demonstrated for us with ALL of the foretold "births of the barren woman," in the case of all OTHERS who receive this authority and power in ANY setting, it is received FROM Jehovah's appointed shepherds at the moment they recognize these ones as genuinely beginning to actually "LISTEN" and pay heed to what Jehovah is conveying through them. (1 Sa 2:5) (Jer 15:9) (Hag 1:12, 13) (Da 2:17, 18)

Yes almost without exception, the "DISCREET" ones among the anointed "virgins" DO NOT "flee" at this point to a figurative "wilderness" or no-mans-land of spiritual exile to begin seeking out ones that they can minister to. Just as demonstrated with the disciples of John the Baptist and Jesus in the early part of the first century in this EXACT same setting, basically the very OPPOSITE is the case! (Mt 24:15, 16) The "mountains" mentioned here in Matthew 24 that these ones are to "flee TO" are in fact a symbolic reference to Jehovah's PROPHETS, as even a very LIMITED degree of scriptural research will confirm! In stark contrast to the periods in which true Christianity or otherwise a GENUINE manifestation of spiritual Israel actually EXISTS on the earth, there are (once again) only "TWO" of these that appear at these times. (Re 11:3) This is precisely why they are DISTINGUISHED with this number in these settings when they are desperately endeavoring to help a REPENTANT portion of a "great prostitute" (which actually includes THEMSELVES) avoid the tremendous destruction that is once again coming her way. (Jos 2:1,14,17-19)

At least in the case of the more humble and honest hearted ones among the anointed "virgins," (if not the more "discreet") it should be EASY to distinguish these prophets from the rest of their fellow anointed ones. Parables such as found in Matthew 25:14-27 are actually designed to illustrate the distinctions that always exist between the anointings that occur in these time frames. What even BEGINS as a much more significant outpouring of Holy Spirit is soon effectively DOUBLED in the case of "two" "APPOINTED slaves" when they begin to actually USE their anointing for its intended purpose. (Mt 25:16, 17) The end result is that they end up with a measure of Holy Spirit that is represented as like the distinction between the "silver monies" of a "depositor" in comparison to a "banker." (Mt 25:27) We can be certain that this distinction is always well reflected in the measure of scriptural understanding these genuine ministers are able to demonstrate.

The APPROACH therefore that the more "discreet" among the anointed "VIRGINS" ("virgins" and widows" as opposed to "BRIDES of the Lamb") would be taking to the notion of "studying together" would be FIRST of all to determine whether or not they are one of the "two" figurative "inspectors" or "spies" assigned to actually teach their brothers and sisters during these post-apostasy/pre-kingdom time frames. (Lu 19:44) (Jos 2:1) (Re 11:3) If they recognize that they are NOT one of these two, the approach would now be to IDENTIFY at least ONE of these prophets and begin to VERY SERIOUSLY AND PRAYERFULLY consider what they have to say!
