On the other hand, I disagree with the WT that the target is JWs. Rather, the target of Gog and his "coalition" is Christianity. And, of course, the most visible portion of "Christianity" is wherever it appears in organized form. So WT will be part of the target. So will the Vatican and all other "Christian" organizations.
Absolutely correct. The attack comes upon ALL that claim to be God's people from a Christianity stance. (On so-called Christendom) This is why although this particular attack is described in a variety of accounts as though coming from different named players, i.e. KOTN, MOL, KFIC, Gog, Disgusting Thing, etc... this is really referring to the same attack. And an addition player that this attack is referred to as coming from, is the Anti-Christ.

Interestingly, although WTS likes to claim that Gog's attack only comes upon them because it comes upon God's people, and they claim to be God's only people today, when you realize that Gog's attack is the same as the Northerner's attack in Joel's account, you can see that the WTS knows that that attack comes on Christianity/Christendom as a whole.

[12-1-61 WT p.714 par. 8 – The worst plague of locusts and worms ever foretold to come was that one of which Jehovah’s prophet Joel gave forewarning. That plague was not threatened by Jehovah God without a just cause occasioned by his people. That is why in Joel’s prophecy Jehovah presents himself as at war with his own people. Here let Christendom* who today claims to be God’s people take serious notice!]

And now with the WTS's new view on how they view Christendom, they would now have to admit that the locust come upon them.

* [Restored At Last! p. 239 Clarification: Conditions in unfaithful Jerusalem—such as idolatry and widespread corruption—remind us of Christendom, but we no longer refer to Christendom as the antitypical Jerusalem.]

But for the point being made here, is that it will come upon ANY/ALL that claim to be God's people from a Christianity stance.

I think this is quite feasible John Amos

Particularly in view of the recent change of view about Christendom in the mid week study Ezekiel book.

Oh? What have they said?

[Restored At Last! p. 239 Clarification: Conditions in unfaithful Jerusalem—such as idolatry and widespread corruption—remind us of Christendom, but we no longer refer to Christendom as the antitypical Jerusalem.]

With that change it means that the following needs to be replaced with WTS.

[5-1-98 WT – Listen to God’s message for those wayward priests: “Gird yourselves, and beat your breasts, you priests. Howl, you ministers of the altar.” (Joel 1:13) In the first fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy, Levitical priests served at the altar. But what about in the final fulfillment? Today, Christendom’s clergy have assumed authority to serve at God’s altar, claiming to be his ministers, his “priests.”]

[5-1-99 WT – Since the start of the great tribulation is yet future, is the “standing in a holy place” still ahead of us? Evidently so. While “the disgusting thing” made its appearance early in this century and has, thus, existed for decades, it will take a position in a unique way “in a holy place” in the near future…When the “scarlet-colored wild beast” attacks the religious harlot, “the disgusting thing” will be standing in a menacing way in Christendom’s so-called holy place. So desolation will begin on faithless Christendom, which portrays itself as holy.]

[7-1-84 WT p.11, 12 par. 16 – In like fashion, Jehovah will bring a heavily armed modern-day Assyrian as his “rod” and “ax” to execute apostate Christendom.]

Here is an attempt:

[11-15-13 WT – In the near future, Jehovah’s apparently vulnerable people will come under attack from the modern-day “Assyrian,” whose intent will be to wipe them out. The Scriptures refer to that attack as well as the attack of ‘Gog of Magog,’ the attack of “the king of the north,” and the attack of “the kings of the earth.”]
